If you are in Hasselt during the coming 2 months, don’t forget to swing by our gallery. We just opened our 6th expo already! Midsummer Show brings you work of Merijn Hos (NL), Debora Lauwers (BE) and CÄät (BE). We tried to find the perfect combination of illustrators to get through this hot summer.

The name Debora may ring a bell. Together with Daan and myself, we run the gallery Alley since september last year. She’s the creator of Mr Lapin. One crazy, but cute rabbit, with a french twist.

For more information, check our website (only available in Dutch).

This Saturday we will be present at Rock Herk with lots of stuff from our shop. So if you are up for a free music festival, clear your calendar! My sister will join us too with Paplou!

Last night we had a good start with our new expo, Random Order, at Alley. Again we had a full house! It’s always nice to see that so many people like what we do at the gallery, but the free beers probably did their part of the job too. So thank you Vedett. :)

Of course this means we had to say goodbye to Them Or Us… I usually buy something from the expo, so every time I can take a piece of it home for my collection.

For this new expo we invited Erosie, Graphic Surgery, Zward and Bier & Brood. While Zward and Bier & Brood provided us with an awesome display in our window, we had Erosie and Graphic Surgery working on a wall painting. Which you can see in this little video.

More pictures from yesterday will be up soon on our Flickr page.

Wow. It seems that I haven’t updated my blog for more than a month. I’ll never become rich and famous that way. :(
Anyway… What happened in the meantime?

At Alley we started our second expo with El Neoray, Vagabundos, Daspasfunky and Botlek. Definitely something you need to come and check out! I really enjoy this new expo, and I hope you will too. We expanded our shop with some new items (and new stuff is still coming in). And we even launched a new website! So you see, we’ve been very busy!

GizMag is still going strong with an average of more than 6000 downloads per PDF issue now. Even though the time I could spend on it was limited, I managed to keep updating the website with fresh links during the past 2 months. At the moment I am working on a new PDF issue. And I have some plans for something totally new, but I’m not sure about the details yet. So more on that later. From now on, I think I won’t be updating this blog with much GizMag news. So you’ll need to visit the website and my Tumblr for updates.

For all the cool stuff I’ve been doing at Nascom, I forward you to the company blog. Most of the awesome stuff ends up there anyway! :)

I promise I won’t wait too long for the next blog entry this time…

I haven’t been updating all my websites a lot lately. But I guess you all know why. We (that is Debora, Daan and me) have been working hard to get our gallery, Alley, ready. And now the first week has passed, and everything is getting back to normal.

But this first week has been really great. We had a lot of people coming in every day, and they even bought some stuff. :) You can find some pictures of the grand opening on our Flickr page.

Beside from the awesome artists in our first expo, you can also find some super-duper stuff in our shop! We have cool T-shirts from Dead! Serious Clothing, Jelmer, Dieter Van Der Ougstraete and PlayRoll, paper toys from Dolly Oblong, handmade bunnies from Mr Lapin, and so much more. We add new stuff all the time, so keep watching the website!

If you haven’t visited us, you can find us on the Demerstraat 78 in Hasselt (BE). We are open from Monday to Saturday, from 12h to 18h. And also every first Sunday of the month. So drop by if you have the chance. I will be there in the weekends and on Monday.

We (Debora, Daan and myself) have been working hard this weekend to get our gallery ready. There is still a lot of work to be done. But we’ll get there. :)

In the meantime, let me entertain you with number soixante neuf of GizMag, roaaarrrrrr…. http://gizmag.eu/issue/69/

By the way, I hate linoleum.

You might have noticed somewhere (on Twitter), that I’m working on a new project “Alley”, together with the very nice people of Postcard of a Painting. (They are also the ones behind Mr Lapin.) There is still a lot of stuff to be done, but it’s going to be awesome! I’ll reveal more about it very soon.

In the meantime you can explore a new web issue. It didn’t arrive in time. But with all the preparations for Alley, I really didn’t had a chance to update GizMag sooner.
