I usually try to stay out of these discussions. But looking at what’s happening in Apple’s War On Flash, I think it’s important to give Adobe some support.

3.3.1 — Applications may only use Documented APIs in the manner prescribed by Apple and must not use or call any private APIs. Applications must be originally written in Objective-C, C, C++, or JavaScript as executed by the iPhone OS WebKit engine, and only code written in C, C++, and Objective-C may compile and directly link against the Documented APIs (e.g., Applications that link to Documented APIs through an intermediary translation or compatibility layer or tool are prohibited).

Apple is trying to create a closed system for their iPhone/iPad/… devices by restricting and controlling developers too much. I do believe this is very unhealthy for the industry. A few interesting reads:

Thank god I bought an Android phone.

Edit: Or install Android on your iPhone, maybe this will get you Flash on it. :)

With a new web magazine nr 30!

The last few days I’ve been kicking at Brighton, at the amazing conference Flash on the Beach. I’ve seen some really fantastic and inspiring stuff from Stefan Richter, Mike Jones, Geoff Stearns, Grant Skinner, Bradley Grosh, Lee Brimelow, Robert Hodgin, Seb Lee-Delisle, Andre Michelle, Ralph Hauwert, and more… And I can’t wait to try some of things out myself. I’m really thankful to Nascom for sending me and 4 other colleagues there. You can read more about our adventures in this blog post written by Sakri on the Nascom blog.

I also had the opportunity to discover some great artists, working with flash (and related technologies) to create their master pieces. I’ve put 2 of them in GizMag already. First one is Erik Natzke, with some amazing flash stuff. He created some sort of painting techniques in Flash. Which results in fluid, organic and natural forms. The second one is James Paterson with some funny illustrations and animations.

And last but not least, I want to include this cool video created by motion designer Rob Chiu. He created this for Flash on the Beach 2008.

I still have to get my picutres from my mobile phone. But I’ll do that later this weekend. They will be showing up on my Flickr page!
