If you speak Dutch, this is a great article about Apple and The Jesus TabletDe hemelvaart van de iPad. Basically the author is saying that the iPad won’t save newspapers and magazines. One of the reasons is that you won’t need to buy an app when the iPad (or every other tablet for that matter) will give you a full browser experience. Apps are useful for smartphones, where you often can browse a light version of the website on small screen. I must also agree with the fact that these apps feel like the multimedia CD-ROM we know from the 90s. Isn’t that just going back in time? I believe in mobile versions of newspapers, magazines and books, but I don’t believe that these iPad apps are the solution.

Ever wondered why I chose a magazine, an not a blog, as format for GizMag? To be honest, me too.

But there is a very simple and short explanation. A few years ago, I did a thesis on DVD-magazines. Back then, I described a magazine as bundled articles reflecting a certain opinion, or a publication that gives you background information on a definite topic. A magazine is also published periodically. And to me, a blog is more like a daily rambling of thoughts. So there you go. To list some weekly neat stuff, I thought it would be cooler to put this in a magazine.

And also. I ♥ magazines. :)

- In these series of GizMag Explained I will try to answer some questions I got in the past about the magazine.
