Ever heard of a VideoSong? Well now you do. Jack Conte makes VideoSongs. The rules are simple:

  1. What you see is what you hear (no lip-syncing for instruments or voice).
  2. If you hear it, at some point you see it (no hidden sounds).

It’s quite amazing actually. Most of the instruments are played by himself, but he does work with other musicians as well. It’s one of those things you just have to see for yourself. You can find a lot of clips on his YouTube page, and an overview of all his songs on his MySpace. Some of them are even free!

Some time ago, I made a mixtape for a friend. And I kinda forgot about it, because for some reason the playlist was deleted in iTunes. But today at work I found it again. Listened to it. And I still liked it a lot. So I decided to put it up here. :)

It’s a mix of soft songs, which make me feel like everything is going to be all right. I hope you’re going to enjoy it. And let’s mark this as the start of the GizMag Mixtapes.

It's All Good

Yeah, the cover is not that great… Anyway… You can download the mix here:

1. Moby – Everloving
2. William Orbit – Sea Green
3. Cassius – Au rêve
4. Tosca – Rondo Acapricio
5. Röyksopp – What Else Is There
6. Air – Mer du Japon
7. Waldeck – Why Did We Fire the Gun?
8. The Chemical Brothers – The Pills Won’t Help You Know (Feat. Midlake)
9. Hans Zimmer – You’re So Cool
10. Yann Tiersen – Comptine d’un autre été
11. Gustavo Santaolalla – Deportation / Iguazu

What’s the point of Last.fm nowadays? If you are using Last.fm and haven’t heard yet, they recently started charging for their radio. Well, at least for some of us. As usual it’s the US that does not have to pay, and so do the UK and Germany. What the f*ck? That’s just discrimination. At least gives us something. Like listening to 30 free tracks each month? Or one free radio station? Anything will do. You got to have a free basic service, right?

Hmm… gotta start watching out for something else maybe… :(

I needed electric stimulus once, because the right side of my face was paralysed. It might look funny, but believe me, it also freakin hurts.

This is the most awesome thing I’ve seen in a long time. You thought DJ Shadow was a sample guru? Or Girl Talk was da bomb? They will crap their pants watching these! It’s YouTube remixed!

This is just one of them. There are 6 more.

How he does it? He explains it best. :)

It’s a bit weird, funny and cool at the same time.
I like the choice of music. Not sure if I like all the dances though. :)

Did you also notice he has a lot of different T-shirts?

I’ve been looking for a nice way to make mixtapes/playlists online. But since Muxtape died, I didn’t find anything that really suites me.
However, I just discovered that you can make playlists in Last.fm. So I will recreate some of my iTunes playlists there. You can’t actually play all the songs, but at least I’m sure I will find every song I want to add to the playlist (and you can even download a free track!).

So here you go with the mixtape I made for my friends two months ago:
